Gujarat Titans (GT) produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 77 runs in Match 52 of IPL 2026 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.

Put to bat first, GT posted a commanding 229/4, powered by a brilliant top-order display from captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. The duo laid the foundation with a 108-run opening stand, taking full advantage of a flat Jaipur surface.

Gill led from the front with a blistering 84 off 44 balls, hitting nine fours and three sixes, while Sudharsan added a fluent 55 off 36 deliveries. The pair put Rajasthan under pressure early, with GT racing to 82 without loss in the powerplay, one of their highest ever in IPL history.

Later, Washington Sundar provided the late surge with an unbeaten 37 off 20 balls, while Rahul Tewatia’s quick-fire hitting in the final over pushed GT to a daunting total. Jofra Archer endured a tough outing in the powerplay as RR’s bowling unit struggled to contain the flow of runs throughout the innings.

In response, Rajasthan Royals faltered despite a brief promising start and were bowled out for 152 in 16.3 overs. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave RR early momentum with a quick 36 off 16 balls, but the chase collapsed after regular wickets derailed the innings.

Rashid Khan turned the game decisively in GT’s favour with a match-winning spell of 4/36, dismantling the middle order. Jason Holder (3/12) and Mohammed Siraj also chipped in with key breakthroughs as RR lost their way after the powerplay.

Ravindra Jadeja fought a lone battle with 38 off 25 balls, but received little support as Rajasthan suffered a dramatic collapse, losing their last few wickets quickly to hand Gujarat a comprehensive win.

The result strengthens GT’s push in the top half of the table, while RR will need to regroup quickly after another disappointing home defeat.

Captains’ take at toss

Stand-in RR skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal revealed that the Royals preferred chasing conditions and confirmed the absence of Riyan Parag.

“We are going to bowl first. I think the wicket looks pretty good and we want to chase. Riyan pulled his hamstring in the last game, but hopefully he will be back soon. Shimron Hetmyer and Yash Raj Punja come into the side. Really excited and looking forward to the game,” Jaiswal said.

GT captain Shubman Gill admitted that Gujarat Titans would also have chosen to bowl first and confirmed one change to the playing XI.

“We would have bowled first as well. Prasidh comes back in place of Manav Suthar. It’s important to reflect on the strengths that have brought us success as a team. Most of our matches have been close, so it’s about putting in that extra effort and backing our execution,” Gill said.
